NSS 3.96.1 release notes

Introduction

Network Security Services (NSS) 3.96.1 was released on 18th December 2023*.

The HG tag is NSS_3_96_1_RTM. NSS 3.96.1 requires NSPR 4.35 or newer.

Changes in NSS 3.96.1 (from NSS 3.95)

  • Bug 1869408 - Use pypi dependencies for MacOS worker in ./build_gyp.sh

  • Bug 1830978 - p7sign: add -a hash and -u certusage (also p7verify cleanups).

  • Bug 1867408 - add a defensive check for large ssl_DefSend return values.

  • Bug 1869378 - Add dependency to the taskcluster script for Darwin

  • Bug 1869378 - Upgrade version of the MacOS worker for the CI

Compatibility

NSS 3.96.1 shared libraries are backwards-compatible with all older NSS 3.x shared libraries. A program linked with older NSS 3.x shared libraries will work with this new version of the shared libraries without recompiling or relinking. Furthermore, applications that restrict their use of NSS APIs to the functions listed in NSS Public Functions will remain compatible with future versions of the NSS shared libraries.
